taking the plunge

'member this?
what'd you guess it was? were you thinking cannonball? maybe bride and groom? how about pool time? if you'd guessed any of those, you'd be on the right track, because it's all of the above, and it's from baby sister's save the date!

y'all, it might be the cutest dang thing evah. but, we can't take all the credit for the idea. while spending all day stopping by pinterest one day, i came across this (using this link cuz the photog's blog keeps redirecting.) on baby sister's 'someday' board

and, an idea was born! see, baby sister and her fiance both swam for the LSU tigers. so, seriously, how could they not do something similar? armed with dress and suit, all they needed was a pool and a photographer. well, lucky for them, our papacito just so happens to have a pool (in the perfect shade of blue) and one'a them fancy cameras that can take 4+ pics in like 2 seconds. (just a weensy important when water's involved!)

are y'all thinkin' 'quitcher yappin' and show us already!" ok, ok. here ya go...
was i right about cute? and, those pics couldn't have turned out better. these are first take, y'all! can you believe? let's take a closer look at those facial expressions.
pure giddiness right there, folks! kiddos are excited to be married! and, that cannonball picture might be pure perfection! i hope it gets framed!
now, if i'm being honest, there was a smoochy picture of the lovebirds that i reeeeealllly wanted baby sister to pick for the back, but alas, it's client's choice. we kept the back sweet and simple, leaving all the deets for their website. i love how it feels like a movie poster!

to ship them off, they got the wraparound treatment. i really don't know when i'll get tired of this label style.
see what one little idea can do? these maybe mighta been the easiest design i've ever done. i've said it before, and i'll say it again, good images make the best designs.

better give a shout out to the ol' man for takin' such fantastic pictures. (silly guy wanted credit on the save the date!)

Reserva la Fecha

custom spanish save the date
With a name like Rosita Designs, you know something with a Spanish flair is right up my alley. Since I'm working on the first draft of invites for this Latin-flavored wedding, I thought it the perfect time to debut these Reserva la Fechas (Save the Dates for all the gringos).

custom save the date postcard
To save on postage, these were designed as postcards. I know I say it all the time, but it's a great, budget-friendly idea. And, we merged the addresses onto the cards, so all the bride had to do was add postage and drop in the mail.

The couple's reception is at a historic, Spanish hotel, so I pulled inspiration from it's architecture (ironwork) and decor (crosses, crosses, and more crosses). And, me? I never met a cross I didn't love.

Stay tuned later in the year for the invitations - they may look similar to this, or could be completely different - it'll be a surprise!

Weddings on the Brain

I have weddings on the brain. I love engagement stories. I love weddings. I love wedding dresses. I love flowers. All of it.

I have weddings on the brain, because the little workshop has been invited to help with quite a few weddings this year, and that makes me very happy.

Here's a Save the Date I did for an Early Summer wedding in Sun River. I love the colors she picked - all yummy versions of coffee (mocha, latte, espresso). And, of course, a subtle hint of Texas orange - a nod to the groom's alma mater.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks to see the upcoming weddings I'm working on.

Twenty Ten!

Ok, who remembers back in 1999 when we were all super worried that at 12:01 none of our technology was going to work? That we were going to be in a state of confusion and our computer screens would look like the opening scenes of the matrix? Me tooooooo.

But, now it's 2010. TWENTY FRIGGIN TEN? Are you kidding me? Where are the flying cars? The cities in space? I want my money back!

Well, I'm sure you've been wondering what I've been doing the whole month (I just spelled that munch!) of December? Hello? Anyone? Tap tap.... and... crickets chirping.

Ok, so I'm sure the only person reading this is my sister, who knows what I was doing the whole month of december, but blogosphere, I'm going to tell you anyway.

I was designing, and printing, and delivering, and designing, and printing, and delivering, and sewing, and sewing, and glueing, and making messes, and packing, and flying.

And, then I was spoiling the sweetest little P of a niece. And, relishing family time, and getting fat off momma's cooking. (seriously, who can eat waffles, and scones, and biscuits and gravy, and more scones for breakfast everyday??)

Phew - December was busy, and I'm super sorry I left you all salivating for a new blog. (I hope I've delivered.)  But, I was takin' a break.

But, I'm back now - and, next week I'll show you all the lovelies I designed, and maybe even show you some of the things I sewed and sewed. Please come back, won't you? I promise I'll never write the word and this much ever again.

Now, aren't we glad that in 2000 our computers decided to continue humming along? I know I am!

Kisses and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Right now, I'm listening to my Holiday Music, and watching the rest of the country be covered in a blanket of white. It's Antartica cold here (maybe not, but still less than 20 degrees), but we have yet to see any of the white stuff. Oh well. A girl can dream.

So, are you dreaming of a white Christmas? Do you have some white on the ground there & think a picture of the family frolicking in it would be THE best card to send out? Well, send me that picture, and let's get it on a card!

Remember, the deadline to order Holiday cards is December 18th.  If you want New Year's cards, you have more time.

And, did you know that all my cards are double-sided? So, whatever size you choose, you can do one pic, or 20, and you can give everyone a glimpse of life at your house with a 'mini' Holiday letter. Or, if you've just had a baby or are recently engaged, do double duty by giving them all the deets on the card.

Need inspiration? Voila...
