With This Brand...

This wedding set is all about the couple. We started working on some ideas (cute things, like initials carved in trees), but a few weeks later, her fiance surprised her with their brand. Yes, a cattle brand. (Trivia alert: interestingly enough, it's where we get that overused word in today's corporate world!)

So, of course she wanted to incorporate the brand into the design, and of course we did. That's what custom's all about, remember?! She chose brown, complemented with blue (bridesmaid dresses), with a punch of yellow to tie in sunflowers. (my FAVORITE!)

We started with the invitation. (This is so a Rosita design! Worn wood look? Grunge font? Textured paper? Yep, yep, and absolutely.)
 And, the RSVP.
Then, she asked me to do rehearsal dinner invites that she could include with the sets. So, we used the same color scheme (minus the blue). By the way, this is a great idea if your rehearsal dinner will be large, and you want to save on postage.
And, she wrapped everything up with raffia, adding to the rustic feel.
Here's all the pieces together. Isn't their brand cool? I'm so glad we included it, and no one else will ever have these invites!
For the wedding day, we made programs, tying in the designs from the invites, but making the paper the star.
And, what bride would be complete without her "something blue"?
I whipped up a hair flower for her, adding in a bit of the bridesmaid dresses so they can all match. And, it's one less "something" she'll have to find.

Beth & Teak, I wish you all the happiness in the world on Saturday, and always. Thanks for letting me be a little part of your day.

Home Sweet Home

It seems everyone is packing up, buying houses, and moving these days. Maybe it's because it's a buyer's market; maybe it's because they're moving closer to family. (I can guarantee my mom wishes I'd move closer to her.)

So, because everyone's packing up, buying houses, and moving, I'm back with more moving announcements.

My favorite announcements are the ones that I can add a little of the location's flair to.

I think this might be my favorite moving announcement! This client moved from Texas to Seattle, and decided to buy a house a year later, so I really wanted to showcase all that Seattle has to offer. The back resembled an airmail package - super cute! (I know it'd be really awesome if you could see the back. Whoops!)
And, then announcements for clients moving to Texas are just so easy. I mean you can do the state, bluebonnets, boots, anything. And, you know, the bigger, the better, right?
Or, maybe you want to showcase your house without showcasing your house. This little house looks shockingly like the real house, even the picture window with the family peeking out. Hee Hee! We went back and forth on whether to include the picture, and I'm glad we did.
So, if you're one of those people who are packing up, buying houses, and moving, give me a shout - let's get something going for you.

And, don't forget, we can do postcard size, with the addresses already filled in, so all you have to do is stamp & send.

Music to My Ears

Since I've told you before what music keeps the workshop going, I thought I'd add a monthly playlist post. Who knows? Maybe I'll introduce you to new music, or remind you of oldies, but goodies. Then you can introduce me to new music, or remind me of oldies but goodies.

I filled this playlist with both new and old in honor of this, my summer of live music (yippee!), and the opening of Eclipse (obsessed, remember?). And, you know no playlist with a song from the Eclipse soundtrack would be complete without an RPattz song...What? No really, what? (For the record, you're probably going to hate the song, and think he's all whiny and emo (wait, can a mid-30s person say that?) and such, but I love him it.)

Here's the playlist. I tried to mix some more upbeat in with the more mellow (I did go to Lilith Fair, remember?). Now, give a listen, and tell me what's on your July playlist.

PS. Didn't I promise never to do a post with this many parentheses again? Hmmm, too bad. Next to the exclamation mark, they're my favorite. And, most times I forget to close them (the HORROR).

PPS. Not sure who named these songs, but that Toad song is actually called I Will Not Take These Things for Granted.

PPPS. Songs from Sarah & BHTM are not my total faves, but they were what I could find on Playlist.com.

PPP...just kidding!

Have it Your Way

So, I know I'm always going on & on about the beauty of custom, but I'm here to say it again.

The other day I got an email about a bachelor party invitation from the site. My new friend did a search of something along the lines of "new orleans invitation", and lo & behold, one of my designs popped up.

So, after a little chit chat, a tweak here & there, we went from this:
to this:

She found the bachelor party invitation, and made it her own. We threw in some pink, changed the phrase to the french version, and added the bride-to-be's name to the Bourbon sign. How cute is that, by the way?

Now, you might be thinking "well, that's not totally custom". But, it is. Because you know: if you find somethin' you like on the site, but you want to move this there, and change this color to that, it's still custom. It's custom, because you found an idea you liked, and ran with it your way.

See how fun this is?! And, please. Would you not book your ticket immediately to the bachelor/bachelorette party if you received this in the mail to set the tone for the weekend?

Independence Day

Wishing you all a fantastic Fourth of July, full of sun, fireworks, bbqs and red, white, and blue. Take time to appreciate your independence and the land of the free and home of the brave.

I'm off on a road trip to Lilith Fair at the Gorge with my best gal, Carrie. Why yes, we do think we're young, carefree, without a responsibility in the world. Good thing we have cool hus-b's.

Have a great weekend!
